Gifts made special with World Vision

by Pattie Cordova
You know how sometimes you can't think of what to get someone for the holidays, and then you think of how many people there are in this world who won't have anything for the holidays? Well it's these times that you want to check out World Vision catalog, browse it and then click the "buy" button to make a difference in someone's life.

I've all seen the World Vision commercials, I've received the literature, but it wasn't until I had kids that my heart strings were pulled every time I saw a poor child without shoes, without food or without clothes. It killed me to think of all the kids and their families who suffer day after day simply because of where they were born. I was lucky enough to be born right where I want to live. Something like birth location could be the only thing that separates me from someone else. So now I do what I can with what little I have to help others out. Locally, I give back by donating products that I have been sent for review, outgrown toys and cans of food when I can. Globally and nationwide, we have begun to give back through the World Vision catalog where we can see how much we can give with just a little bit of money. For example, with a $16 donation I can feed a family for one day here in the US. For $60, I can pay for one year of a child's schooling in a country such as Ghana, Chad or Zambia! These are monetary donations that are not extravagant, yet they make a big difference in someone's life.

World Vision also has gifts that do double-duty in the gifting department. Gifts to the World Vision Gift Catalog Maximum Impact Fund are used where resources are most desperately needed, to help children and families in struggling communities around the world. With a financial contribution, the gift giver can select one of 36 Maximum Impact items (a few are listed below) that can be given to a loved one and at the same time help a person in need.

Artisan Beaded Necklace: This glass-bead necklace is handmade in Thailand and can be worn several different ways — even as a multi-strand bracelet.
Eco Cold Cup: This popular 16 oz. BPA-free tumbler comes in handy when on the run. Every sip is a reminder of those who’ve been helped.
Veggie Tales "Incredible Vegetables" DVD: Heroic adventures and veggie fun for the family movie night! This newest Veggie Tale DVD is an action adventure that teaches kids how to conquer fear through a faith-based message.
A set of plush toys - Gertie Goat, Chuma Chick and Pallu Pig: Gertie, Chuma and Pallu are available exclusively through World Vision and represent farm animals that are donated to children and families around the world and provide a steady supply of nutritious food and the surplus can be sold for extra income.
